The City of Surprise will host both a Major League Baseball Jr. Home Run Derby and a Pitch, Hit & Run Competition on April 21!

MLB Pitch Hit & Run Competition

Pitch, Hit & Run is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball. This grassroots program is designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete, free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/softball skills.

Boys and girls are divided into four age divisions 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, and have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championships at Major League ball parks and the National Finals during the 2018 MLB All-Star Week.

The individual Pitch, Hit & Run Champions, along with the All- Around Champion in each division age group at the Local Competition, will be awarded and will advance to the Sectional Level of Competition.

The Surprise Pitch, Hit & Run Competition will take place Saturday, April 21 at the Kansas City Royals Major League Practice Fields, 15850 N Bullard Ave. Check-in will begin at 12 p.m., and the competition will begin at 1 p.m.

All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and have their parent or guardian fill out a registration/waiver form prior to the start of the competition. Your child’s age as of July 17, 2018 will determine his or her age in this year’s competition.

MLB Jr. Home Run Derby

This fun and exciting (and free) youth competition is a way for talented youngsters, ages 10-14, to showcase their hitting abilities for a chance to compete at the National Finals during MLB All-Star Week.

Girls and boys are divided into two age divisions, 12u and 14u, and will have the opportunity to advance through three levels of competition. The Local Champions from both age divisions will advance to the Regional Level, and Regional Champions will advance to the National Finals, which will take place during 2018 MLB All-Star Week.

The Surprise derby will take place Saturday, April 21 at the Kansas City Royals Major League Practice Fields, 15850 N Bullard Ave. Check-in will begin at 12 p.m., and the derby will begin at 1 p.m.

All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and have their parent or guardian fill out a registration/waiver form prior to the start of the competition. This competition is designed for ages 10-14. Your child’s age as of July 17, 2018 will determine his or her age in this year’s competition.
